Wolsey Writers – Advanced

This offer of one-to-one support is available to regular Wolsey Writers who are committed to developing their work to a high standard.

It may be suitable if you:

  • Are part way through a manuscript.
  • Are experienced in one genre and contemplating a project in another.
  • Have a demonstrable flair for creative writing and wish to pursue this further.

I will deliver:

  • 3 x one-hour meetings to discuss: You, The WriterYour Big ProjectYour Aspirations.
  • A style analysis of a 1,000-word max extract.
  • A written report giving feedback on the substance of your manuscript based on a 10,000-word max extract and synopsis, clearly highlighting its strengths and weakness.

WW Advanced is a different, more challenging way of working than our Saturday morning workshops. Your programme of support will be tailored to your needs, but equally, requires more participation from you. For example, I will set you tasks to complete between our meetings; I will ask you questions about your WiP and the story you are trying to tell; and I will urge you to think deeply about your personal goals and how to make your writing the best it can be.

While I shall encourage you in whatever your writing goals are, please be aware that WW Advanced is not a ‘how to get published’ service. My priority is to make your writing better. The only promises I can make are that I always look for good in the work I’m shown; that my feedback will be personal and specific; and that my advice is given with the aim of helping you to realise your potential. I also understand that private doubts can hinder writers as much as any technical problem on the page and I will do my best to help you identify, and overcome, these issues.

By the end of our time together, I hope that you will gain an insight into the kind of writer you are, have the confidence to complete your WiP to a high standard, and feel inspired to explore and develop your talents further.

Please email expressions of interest katie@katieward.co.uk.

My availability in 2018 is 1 March – 31 July. Meetings are in Ipswich, Suffolk.
